When industrial equipment and parts need to be cleaned, the challenge goes far beyond removing grease and grime. For many facilities, the real concern is what happens after the wash – specifically, how to safely manage wastewater contaminated with oil, grease, and industrial fluids.
That’s where water oil separators play a critical role.
At Hanson Industrial, we work closely with manufacturers like Mi-T-M Corporation to provide proven solutions that help facilities stay compliant, efficient, and environmentally responsible.
The Challenge: Cleaning Without Contaminating
Many industrial facilities rely on pressure washing to clean parts, tools, and heavy equipment. However, wastewater from these cleaning processes often contains oil, grease, and other contaminants that cannot legally be discharged into municipal sewer systems.
One of our recent customers faced this exact challenge. Their maintenance team needed to clean oil-coated parts before repair or reassembly, but sending oily wastewater down the drain was not an option. They needed a reliable way to separate oil from water while maintaining efficient workflow inside their facility.
The Solution: Mi-T-M Water Oil Separator Systems
To solve this issue, Hanson Industrial partnered with Mi-T-M Corporation to implement a complete water oil separation system.
The solution included:
- Mi-T-M WOS/BIO-20D Water Oil Separator
- All-electric hot water pressure washer (DHA-2503-AE0E4G)
- Self-retracting hose reel
- Oil decanter for safe oil collection and disposal
This setup allows contaminated wash water to be collected, processed, and separated safely, keeping operations compliant with environmental regulations.
How the Water Oil Separation Process Works
The system operates through a straightforward but highly effective process:
- Parts are washed using a hot water pressure washer inside a designated wash area.
- Wastewater containing oil and debris flows into a collection basin.
- A sump pump transfers the water into the water oil separator.
- The separator removes oil and hydrocarbons from the water.
- Clean water is discharged safely into the municipal sewer system.
- Separated oil is diverted into a dedicated oil decanter for proper disposal.
This process helps businesses reduce environmental risk while maintaining productivity and compliance.
Equipment Highlight: Mi-T-M DHA-2503 Electric Pressure Washer
The system featured in this installation includes the Mi-T-M DHA-2503, an all-electric hot water pressure washer delivering:
- 2,500 PSI
- 2.8 GPM
- Zero exhaust emissions
- Quiet, indoor-safe operation
Electric hot water pressure washers are ideal for indoor environments where ventilation is limited and emissions must be controlled.
